Do you only provide mentoring support for young Muslims?
No. We focus our activity in those areas with significant Muslim communities because young muslims in the UK are often at the bottom of the indices of deprevation and disadvantage. However, we do provide support for young people from all backgrounds.
Do you only provide support for Muslim ex-Offenders
Yes. Our ex-offender programme is currently restricted to Muslims due to the particular pressing needs of this group.
Do I have to be a Muslim to volunteer with you?
No. We are keen to have support from individuals from all different backgrounds and walk of life.
Are you a religious or political organisation?
No. Mosaic does not have a political or religious agenda and we do not involve ourselves in the promotion or interpretation of any faith or engage in political matters.
How do you select which schools to support?
We seek to work with schools in the most deprived areas, committed to working mainly with schools in the 20% most deprived communities. We support young people of all backgrounds, but also have a particular focus on those areas with significant Muslim communities.
Do you pay expenses to mentors?
No, other than for occasional one-off purposes where extenuating circumstances apply.
Are your services accredited?
We are currently working towards accreditation with the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation’s national Approved Provider Standard for our secondary school programme. Our primary school programme is accredited by NIACE.
How are you funded?
We are a charitable initiative, which is wholly self-financed. We are funded by individuals, corporate organisations, public sector grants and charitable trusts.
