The Mosaic Media Network brings together media professionals with the aim of inspiring young Muslims to consider the media as a profession; support local communities to get more positive Muslim news stories; and provide networking opportunities for those already working within the media industry.
Mosaic’s Media objectives are:-
- To harness the power of the media to inspire, promote positive Muslim role models and mentoring activities, and offer opportunities to gain experience so as to encourage an interest and possible career in the media, thereby increasing Muslim representation within the media.
- To provide pro-bono media literacy education for community representatives to improve their understanding of how information is presented; by up-skilling community leaders they will become better able to promote their own stories.
- To establish itself as a source of information for the Muslim community on how mainstream media works.
- To provide a platform for media professionals to network, develop partnerships, exchange ideas, and consider opportunities for development within the industry.
Both Muslims and non-Muslims are welcome to join the Media Network to tackle the current lack of Muslim representation within this influential sector and increase awareness of positive Muslim news stories.
