Media Internships

In support of the Mosaic Media Network, Mosaic is pleased to offer a rolling programme of internships for youngsters aged 16 - 35 to support our media and communications work. Each internship will last between six and 12 weeks, providing successful candidates with exposure and experience of a wide range of communications and media fields.
As well as support from Mosaic's Communications Manager, interns will be provided with exciting opportunities to learn from media professionals across Mosaic's support base. In this way, candidates will not only benefit from focussed experience of communications experience in a business environment, but be able to contribute directly to Mosaic's development
As the range of Mosaic's activity grows, so the demands on our ability to effectively communicate and promote our key messages and stories grows. Our media interns will support our Communications Manager across the range of our communications work, with a particular focus on enhancing our media and PR output. Specifically, Mosaic Media Interns will work on the following areas:
- gathering information for and drafting press releases and media sell in scripts and website content
- drawing up media target lists (UK and international), working with sponsors where relevan
- contacting media by email and telephone to engage in covering the Summi
- meeting with and accompanying media professionals during Mosaic event
- maximising coverage of Mosaic events and activities via planning of photograph, video, and digital medi
- media monitoring
In addition, Mosaic Media Interns will be expected to contribute to the following areas of our work:
- events planning and delivery
- management of our internet, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels
- internal communication work
- other communications activity
As well as direct support from Mosaic's Communications Manager, each internship will include a bespoke programme of activities with media professionals from across Mosaic's support base, such as job shadowing opportunities across a range of organisations' communications teams and visits to media outlets.
Eligibility
In line with Mosaic's objectives, the Mosaic Media Internship programme is open to young Muslims (aged 16-35), resident in the UK, who are interested in pursuing a career in the media. Candidates will be expected to provide evidence of their interest in pursuing a media career and also able to demonstrate their commitment to Mosaic's objectives.
Each internship will last between six and 12 weeks, to be negotiated with successful candidates.
These internships are unpaid but reasonable travel expenses and limited subsistence costs will be met.
