Mosaic Mentoring matches volunteer mentors with young Muslims and their peers at schools and in community groups, and Muslim prisoners during the vulnerable period of transition from prison back into society.

Mosaic mentoring aims to raise aspirations and provide access to opportunities for education and employment otherwise not available to them, as well as broadening horizons, providing positive role models and opening networks to access employment and education

Mentoring opportunities

Mosaic's mentoring programmes include:-

  • Primary School Mentoring with girls aged 9-11 years old and their mothers
  • Secondary School Mentoring with young people aged 11-18
  • Muslim Young Offenders with inmates aged 16-30 during the difficult transition from prison back into society

Why mentor?

Mentoring offers an excellent tool to increase self-esteem, aspiration and achievement. It works through providing a positive role model as a mentor, who supports the mentee in their decision-making for the future, offering insights and experience from their own life. The effect of role modelling is particularly powerful in Mosaic mentoring, where mentor and mentee often share common links of community, faith and culture.
