When I was approached to become a mentor for Mosaic I was very flattered and agreed to sign up without hesitation. I had my training last year and I can honestly say that mentoring has been an amazing experience.
Mentoring at Mayville Primary School with a mother and daughter group was especially close to my heart as the school is in the Borough that I grew up in and still live in today.
As a mother to a daughter myself, I know first-hand how important it is to instil confidence in your child from a young age to believe they can achieve anything in life, and over the weeks the girls communication and confidence skills improved massively. Those who were quiet and shy in the beginning really came into their own in the sessions, which was a joy to witness.
I’m looking forward to attending the advanced mentoring course and continue with the mentoring role in the Primary School Programme.
To those of you considering mentoring with Mosaic – do it! The most enriching part of the mentoring experience for me was that I got more out of the experience than I think the girls did!
