Inspiring Business Leaders

Mosaic held a Prince's Seeing is Believing visit in London on 27th May 2010 to show the work that Mosaic is doing with schools and how businesses can get involved, by allowing access to those who best show its impact - those benefitting from Mosaic's programmes. The delegation was made up by individuals holding senior positions from both the corporate and third sectors.

Delegates first visited Bygrove Primary School where they were able to observe a mentoring session with mothers and daughters themed around motivations. The next stop was Norlington School, to again observe a mentoring session but this time with mentees giving their stories of success in order to inspire the young men.

The last stop was a World of Work visit to HSBC led by Mahmoud Atalla, Mosaic Board Member and Head of Private Equity UK, and his colleagues. Mahmoud showed students from the West Midland's Brondesbury College and Connaught Girls School Mosaic Stars leadership programme participants around the impressive building, and spoke about how the business works.

The mother daughter programme is an exceptional programme that is creating an excellent vehicle to bring the mothers out of their homes, which appears to be breaking the isolation that the mothers were feeling....It was evident that the [University] visit created hope and excitement in the minds of the young girls. Since 1990, the Prince's Seeing Is Believing programme has taken more than 7,000 business leaders into the most deprived communities, visiting organisations such as homeless hostels, prisons and schools, encouraging a dialogue with people on the ground and showcasing some of the most successful examples of business engagement.
