Mosaic Board Member, OBE, 'Director of the Month'
Director Magazine has profiled Iqbal Wahhab, Founder of Roast Restaurant and Mosaic Board Member, as 'Director of the Month' in its January 2010 edition. Iqbal's many and varied successes and experiences show why he has been featured as the first of the new decade. Iqbal was also recently awarded an OBE in the 2010 Honours List.
Restauranteur Iqbal Wahhab was awarded the OBE jointly for his public service duties as well as for services to the hospitality industry.
Iqbal's professional background ranges from journalism to pr, to the restaurant industry, making him an inspiring member of Mosaic's Speakers Bureau. Chair of the Department of Work and Pensions Ethnic Minority Advisory Group for over three years, Iqbal was also recently made Chair of the Mayor's Fund for the London Business Club.
In an interview with Richard Cree, of Director Magazine, Iqbal spoke about the many experiences and challenges that have been part of his journey, as well as future plans with the Olympic Games in 2012.
Iqbal said:
Both when I opened The Cinnamon Club and then Roast I set major challenges on the dining public, firstly to change the wya they viewed Indian food and secondly to take British food seriously. Part of this award I believe is to encourage others to go out and successfully innovate.
