Out of Cambridge, and around the UK
After an eventful and intense week in Cambridge for the start of Mosaic's first International Summer School, the 80 delegates are now in their groups and on their site visits around the UK. Visiting Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol or London, the groups are seeing all they learnt last week put into practice. Wednesday will see them all return to London to begin gathering their thoughts on all they have seen, heard, and done.
The first week was an exciting and eventful one, with all getting used to being temporary students in the beautiful Clare College, Cambridge. The days were long but filled by inspiring speakers such as Will Day, Sheikh Babikir, Ikram Butt, Julia Cleverdon DCVO, Tim Grandage and Kathie Neal, Sir John Tusa, Peter Sanders, Tony Juniper, and many more.
Monday afternoon's art session with the Prince's School of Traditional Arts meant donning plastic aprons and getting handy with paints and brushes. Each delegate painted a number of square pieces of paper, which were then arranged on a large board. What resulted was a truly stunning mosaic that nobody could quite believe they had helped create.
True to English form, the week saw both glorious sunshine and pouring rain, all of which was borne with good humour and smiles by the group, even when they gathered in cultural dress on the banks of the River Cam before the week's final dinner. It made a fantastic sight, and one I am sure none of the passing punters were quite expecting!
Don't forget to keep up with what the delegates are doing by following our bloggers as they journey around the UK.
PLEASE NOTE - applications for next year's International Summer School (2010) are not yet open. Please do not send the Mosaic team any applications, they will not be accepted.
