School's Out: International Delegates Head Home
After a busy, inspiring, and fun two weeks the 82 delegates taking part in the first Mosaic International Summer School have returned home.
Off and around the UK
The first week was an intense programme of inspiring speakers and innovative workshops in Cambridge. With barely a break to rest, the group was packed up and driven to London for the weekend. From there the group was split up into four groups who then spent the next couple of days in either Manchester, Birmingham, Bath or Bristol, where they saw projects that are actively addressing those issues considered in Cambridge.
Returning to London
Returning exhausted to London the groups all came together to discuss what they had seen. At the spectacular dinner generously hosted at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office the summer school was joined by Mosaic's Chair, HRH Princess Badiya bint El Hassan of Jordan, and many of the participant countries' ambassador representatives.
Testament to the dedication and enthusiasm (and never ending energy!) of the delegation, after the grand affair at the FCO many groups were found working through the night to make sure their presentations were ready for the report back on Friday.
The report back - wow!
And what a report back it was. Guests were blown away by the results of what the groups had seen and the commitment shown to the issues considered; Mosaic is now faced with no small task in collating all of this information together.
One element of the summer school that we could only have hoped would be the success it has been is the creation of so many firm friendships. This is testament to the inspirational and enthusiastic delegates the summer school was blessed with. But don't take our word for it, watch the video (created by Laila Abdul Majeed and Farah Abbedi).
It is hard to describe all that is worth telling about the Mosaic International Summer School, so I leave it to our delegates who I hope will give you more of an insight into what it was like to be a part of it. Read their accounts (to be added shortly), and take a look at the blogs.
