Schools Enterprise Challenge Kicks Off

The inaugural Apax Partners - Mosaic Enterprise Challenge 2009 is under way, being contested by teams from 17 schools from across the country.

With generous sponsorship from Apax Partners, Mosaic's annual Enterprise Challenge nurtures and promotes entrepreneurship and enterprise amongst pupils in Mosaic schools in areas of high Muslim population and high levels of disadvantage.   Combining PIXELearning's leading enterprise game software and Mosaic's inspirational business mentors, Mosaic schools across the country have the opportunity to enhance their business and enterprise studies curriculum offering through this unique new national competition.  Winning schools have the opportunity to win cash prizes of up to £3000.

Mentoring in schools started in May, the Challenge heats will take place in June and the finals will be held in London in July.

"An inspirational project led by inspirational role models.  This is a fantastic project aimed to fully engage pupils with the business world.  It provokes thought, creates challenge & encourages students to problem solve.  It encompasses all elements of Business & Enterprise". Head of Business Studies, Belle Vue School for Girls, Bradford

"All the boys tremendously enjoyed the mentoring sessions and they started trading from 2nd day onward with brilliant results, a few of them making millions from day one!  The sessions were interactive, engaging and learning. It was highly encouraging and an absolute joy to see the boys apply their business acumen and knowledge into the game, devise innovative products, plan and strategize.  It was extremely rewarding to see the genuine interest and business acumen of these boys at such an early stage in life." Faraz Khan, Business Mentor, John Kelly School for Boys
