Girls and their mothers from Heathfield Primary School and St Paul’s Church of England Primary Schools in Bolton celebrated their achievements at a combined university visit and Mosaic Primary School Graduation Ceremony at the University of Bolton and Bolton College of Further Education.
The visit to the university and the college and the graduation ceremony marked the end of a nine week Mosaic mentoring programme for the girls and their mothers and gave them an amazing experience. They also had an opportunity to talk about what they has learnt on the the programme with their mentors and teachers as well as receive a special certificate presented to them by Mosaic.
As part of the event, the group had an opportunity to hear Dr Zahra Salimi, Lecturer from The Business School at the University of Bolton give an inspirational speech about his work at the University.
The programme was led by Mosaic mentors in each school and helped the girls and their mothers to raise their aspirations and build their confidence. During the sessions, they explored different role models, the value of good communications, the importance of education and career choices as well as getting involved in the community.
Mosaic would like to thank Kesh Patel from the Marketing Office at The University of Bolton and Deb Meekings, Deputy Head Teacher at St Paul’s C of E Primary School for their support and to The University of Bolton for kindly hosting the visit and graduation ceremony.
If you are female and interested in mentoring on one of Mosaic’s Primary School Programmes you can read more about what’s involved and register your interest. We are particularly keen to hear from Asian Muslim women and those who work in CSR roles in companies.
