Lord Khalid Hameed of Hampstead
The Lord Hameed has worked for three London teaching hospitals. Follwoing this he developed a successful practice in Central London and was appointed Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the Cromwell Hospital, Lonond. He is currently Chairman of the Alpha Hospital Group and also Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the London International Hopital, which is a new Centre of Excellence being created for cancer, the heart and the brain.
Lord Hameed is Chairman of the Commonwelath Youth Exchange Council, Governor of the International Students Hall, President of the Little Foundation, Trustee of the Woolf Institute of Ahrahamic Faiths and of The Ethnic Minority Foundation, Chairman of the Friends odf The British Library, and supports other charities. He is involved in Interfaith Harmony and Dialogue for which he undertakes public speaking. In 2005 he was awarded the Sternberg Award for his work in interfaith matters. He was also awarded the Ambassador for Peace Award by the Interreligious and International Federation for Worls Peace in 2007. He was also Awarded The Asian of the Year Award in 2007.
He has national honours from five countries, including the United Kingdom which awarded him with a CBE and was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London.
Lord Hameed was appointed High Sheriff of Greater London in March 2006 by Her Majesty the Queen. He was presented to the House of Lords in April 2007.
