• Lord Mohamed Lord Mohamed Sheikh

    Lord Mohamed Sheikh was brought up in Uganda and commenced his business career with Sun Alliance Insurance Group. He studied for the examinations of the Chartered Insurance Institute and attained the Associateship and Fellowship of the Institute at a young age in a record period. He has also studied and achieved the Financial Planning Certificate.

    Subsequent to his work with Sun Alliance Group he joined Guardian Royal Exchange Insurance Company where he was promoted to the position of Principal Officer. He then commenced employment with Camberford Law Plc and he was until very recently the principal shareholder as well as the Chairman and Chief Executive of the company.

    Lord Sheikh's family emanated from Amritsar and have a long and historic connection with the city. He is able to speak several languages and brought up in a secular environment.

    For many years, Lord Sheikh was a visiting lecturer on Insurance and Financial Services subjects, he has written educational material as well as being a frequent contributor to the Insurance Publications. Lord Sheikh has held high positions, including Presidency and Chairmanship of The Chartered Insurance Institute and British Insurance Brokers Association.

    Lord Sheikh was elevated to the House of Lords in 2006 and was in fact the Muslim to be appointed a Peer by the Conservative Party. He is currently Chairman of the Conservatice Muslim Forum. He also chairs the Ethnice Diversity of the Conservative Party and is actively involved in interfaith dialogue and building harmony amongst all communities.
