Mosaic has today announced the establishment of the HRH Princess Badiya Mosaic Mentor of the Year Award. The Award, which is named after Mosaic’s founder Chairman HRH Princess Badiya bint El Hassan of Jordan, is designed to recognise and reward the efforts of our most outstanding mentors.
The Award will recognise individuals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to Mosaic’s mentoring programmes and whose contribution has had a significant impact on the young people they have mentored.
The announcement comes on our fifth anniversary. It was five years ago today that Mosaic was launched to deliver HRH The Prince of Wales’ vision: to enable successful role models to connect with young people in their community and inspire them to achieve their dreams.
Over the last five years, his vision has been realised as hundreds of successful businessmen and women have volunteered as mentors for Mosaic; HRH Princess Badiya has created this Award in order to thank and encourage our mentors as we move forward into the next five years.
For some time now, Mosaic has been honouring mentors in our Hero of the Month scheme. Candidates for the new HRH Princess Badiya Award will be drawn from those who have been recognised as Heroes of the Month.
The first recipient of the HRH Princess Badiya Mentor of the Year Award will be announced next July, as the academic year draws to a close and our mentoring programmes reach their climax.
Could it be you? If you are feeling inspired to be become a Mosaic mentor, now’s the time to sign up and start off down the road towards mentoring young people in your local community. Find out more about what’s involved in being a Mosaic mentor
HRH Princess Badiya says: “I have witnessed at first-hand how much Mosaic’s mentoring programmes benefit both those being mentored and those doing the mentoring. It is a great honour to give my name to an award for Mosaic’s top mentors. I very much look forward to meeting future nominees for this Award, inshaAllah.”
Jonathan Freeman, the Director of Mosaic adds: “Our volunteers are Mosaic’s real heroes. We are delighted to have launched this prestigious Award by which to honour and recognise our mentors. It is very fitting that the Award carries the name of HRH Princess Badiya, our founder chairman, who has been one of our most active supporters over the last five years and a model example of voluntary service for the betterment of society as a whole.”
