Rivers Academy in West London has signed-up for the second consecutive year following pupil’s requests to enter the 2015 Enterprise Challenge.
This year, over 70 pupils will take part in the exciting business simulation game and competition which will help give them an invaluable insight into business.
Will Berryman, a law and citizenship teacher at Rivers Academy, who also assists children by offering them career guidance, said that the number of pupils taking part has nearly doubled this year.
“It has proved very popular and the pupils really engaged with the challenge and their mentor,” said Will.
“It also provided them with a great opportunity to link with business people from outside school which is useful because the more business people the students come into contact with the better it is to help them decide what career path to take.”
Rivers Academy pupil, Jude Sandouk said he got involved with the Mosaic because he thought it would be fun, adding: “As a result of taking part, my interest in business studies grew, and I am thinking about starting my own business when I leave school.”
Other pupils agreed it was a beneficial programme, saying; “I gained experience in the real world of business and risk taking,” Saeed Ibrahim.
Milena Dzhorgova added: “Our mentor worked with our team throughout the challenge who helped us to develop skills like team work and leadership qualities when doing activities. Overall the Mosaic challenge increased my motivation.”
Taking part in the challenge also helped pupil Thomas Chapman decide what he would like to do when he finishes his GCSEs.
“I’d like to take economics in 6th form for A Levels as it’s a mixture between maths and business and I feel I would be good at it,” said Thomas. “I would also like to have my own business when I’m older or work in a successful business as I believe there isn’t a greater feeling than being successful. Thank you for the opportunity.”
