Overview of Mosaic
Founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 2007, Mosaic’s mentoring programmes create opportunities for young people growing up in our most deprived communities. Mosaic’s vision is for all young people to be supported to realise their potential.
In July 2016, Mosaic moved home to The Prince’s Trust. This integration enables Mosaic to increase the delivery and impact of our mentoring programmes, reaching more young people across the UK.
With the help of volunteer mentors acting as positive relatable role models, we aim to bridge the aspirations-attainment gap. By linking young people with inspirational role models in this way, we boost their confidence, self-efficacy and long-term employability, helping The Prince’s Trust reach a million more young people.
Mosaic programmes
Mosaic’s mentoring programmes continue to target hard-to-reach and disadvantaged beneficiary groups.
The Mosaic mentoring programmes were developed with a particular focus on raising the aspirations, self-efficacy and employability of the young people who take part. One of the keys ways this is achieved is through being connected to positive, relatable role model mentors.
Effective mentoring programmes can boost participants’ aspirations, confidence, self-belief and motivation. Crucially, mentoring programmes enhance participants ‘soft skills’- personality traits, social graces, communication, language, personal habits, friendliness, and optimistic outlook – which are increasingly important for success at school and in the current job market.
