Mosaic congratulates Anouar Kassim and the Milton Keynes Islamic Arts Heritage and Culture Organisation, winners of the Partnership category of the Epic Awards 2010. They developed learning opportunities focusing on Contemporary and Traditional Islamic Art for students of the Milton Keynes College. They worked with students in the Art, Design and Media department, who explored aspects of Islamic culture as part of their course work and produced a banner that was displayed in Milton Keynes shopping mall. Since the project the organisation has gained more support from different statutory bodies, and has developed an Oriental Carpet weaving group.
The organisation believes that the study of art and material culture transcends the ethnic, linguistic and religious division that plagues the modern world. The organisation was set up after the attacks on the World Trade Centre on 9/11, to build bridges between communities, develop new friendships, and share knowledge.
The Milton Keynes Islamic Arts Heritage and Culture Organisation is Mosaic’s delivery partner for Milton Keynes and was one of the finalists in the Interfaith Category of the 2010 Mosaic Talent Awards.
