He did it! Mosaic’s National Director Jonathan Freeman rode a very respectable 5 hours and 56 minutes in support of Mosaic and The Children’s Trust in the inaugural Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 on Sunday 4th August and achieved his fundraising target of £5000!
Celebrating the legacy for cycling created by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, More than 20,000 cyclists took part in the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 mile race on the second day of the UK’s largest ever mass participation cycling event. London Mayor Boris Johnson was one of the participants who set off with Jonathan early on Sunday morning from the new Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the race then followed a 100-mile route on closed roads through the capital and into the stunning Surrey countryside.
Jonathan started training for his ride in May, and shared his highs and lows in the Mosaic blog. Speaking of his support for The Children’s Trust and Mosaic, Jonathan commented: “Obviously as National Director at Mosaic I feel very passionately about supporting and inspiring young people so they become the best they can be. The Children’s Trust is also very close to my heart and by supporting both charities with this ride, I feel like I am doing what I can to support young people from all walks of life.”
The Children’s Trust is a national charity providing rehabilitation, care and education to children with acquired brain injury, multiple disabilities and complex health needs.
Speaking of the ride, Jonathan said: “I expected a challenging ride and that’s what I got. The route wasn’t made famous during the Olympics for nothing! When the going got tough, it was thoughts of Mosaic and The Children’s Trust that kept me going. I’m so grateful for all the support I’ve received and for the generous sponsorship of my ride. I am also extremely thankful to The COSARAF Foundation, CareTech Holdings PLC, Child & Child solicitors and Roast Restaurant who all sponsored my ride.”
You can still read Jonathan’s training diary in the Mosaic blog: “What an amazing day! After all the months of training, the day of the ride had finally arrived – and what an incredible day we had! The Prudential RideLondon weekend was an incredible event and the LondonSurrey100 surpassed all my expectations.”
You can still sponsor Jonathan until 31st August!
