Pakistani rock legend Salman Ahmed and UK Qawwali band ‘The Sufi Touch’ entertained 400 guests at the Eid Gala Dinner 2010 on Saturday 18th September at The Royal Garden Hotel Kensington, London. The evening was hosted by BBC Newsreader Mishal Husain with special guest appearances from members of the England, Pakistan and Indian cricket teams. The fundraising dinner in association with Mosaic, raised a staggering £240,000, 100% of which will go to Islamic Relief’s Pakistan Floods appeal.
HRH The Prince of Wales sent a special message of support to guests at the dinner in support of Islamic Relief’s work in the region.
I could not be more impressed with the way in which Islamic Relief has tackled this crisis, drawing on its long and distinguished experience. And I am so pleased that my own Mosaic charity, represented here tonight by so many of its supporters, is working closely with Islamic Relief on this most urgent priority. That is why I wanted to send a message to your Eid Gala dinner this evening – to applaud your humanity and selflessness in reaching out to those in such dire need and to encourage others to follow your excellent example. May God bless all that you do. Eid Mubarak!
