Well it is just 40 hours before the 2013 Virgin London Marathon. Yesterday I went to the Excel centre to register for my official numbers & position; no turning back (not that I ever considered doing so) but it is so very, very real now!
The entrance had a huge graffiti wall with the word London emblazoned on it. In customary gangster style I scrawled a big graffiti MOSAIC on the wall followed by a slogan told to me by my 9 year old daughter; ‘if you believe it , you can achieve it!’
There was quite a sport carnival feel about the registration except with super fit people in trainers and lycra walking around.
I spoke to a sports scientist and told him I had been enjoying the carb loading for the last 8 days (pasta and cinnamon swirls had never tasted so good), to which he told me you only carb load on the last two days…ooopps, too late now.
Next year guys I hope to have a number of Mosaic supporters flying the Mosaic flag. This is an amazing event and as I went round the exhibition centre yesterday and saw signs for people to sign up for marathons in Munich, Barcelona, Latvia and even Finland? It became apparent that London probably is the most beautiful marathon in the world. Where else do you see such a collection of stunning historic and contemporary landmarks and feel the warmth of a truly charitable population cheering you on?
I look forward to Sunday…London bring it on! Mosaic is ready!!
