London-based Mosaic mentor Kauser Malik has been chosen as our Hero of the Month for her passion and enthusiasm.
Kauser is a committed mentor who mentored in 2011/12 on the secondary programme, and this year will be mentoring on both secondary and primary school mentoring programmes.
Not only has Kauser increased her commitment to Mosaic, she has been promoting our work and recruiting other people to support our programmes in London and the South East – all of whom are also now fully committed to either the secondary or primary programme. At this point in the year when we are recruiting for all our programmes for the academic year, this support and advocacy is critical to Mosaic.
Kauser says: “I enjoyed mentoring last year. Our lead mentor Mary was inspiring, and it was great fun mentoring the teenagers. I also would go home and practice the mentoring on my children and friends. I also received tickets for the Queen’s jubilee concert at Buckingham Palace through Mosaic. This was amazing.”
She adds: “I was also lucky enough to attend an Eid party at Houses of Parliament , last week, as one of the Mosaic mentors works there and gave me tickets. This was exciting and I met Asian MPs and got an insight into their work and motivations. My friends and family are inspired by my involvement in Mosaic especially as I always talk about it, consequently they also want to be mentors!”
If you are feeling inspired by Kauser’s story and you are interested in mentoring, why not register your interest now? We are actively seeking mentors for this academic year.
