This year’s New year’s Honours List saw Mosaic Vice-Chair Saker Nusseibeh, CEO of Hermes Investment Management awarded a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire), in recognition of his services to Responsible Business and Finance.
During his time at Hermes, Saker has played a pivotal role in changing the investment management sector’s focus away from just financial profit to creating a wider individual and societal benefit, by transforming Hermes into a sector leader that has among many attributes ingrained environmental, social and governance (ESG) policies and responsibility as core values.
Hermes has played an increasingly supportive role of Mosaic over the years, with Saker leading the way through his role as Vice-Chair of the Mosaic board. In particular, Hermes’ support of our Enterprise Challenge competition, and contribution to our programmes through a growing number of volunteer mentors, has enabled us to connect more young people, from some of the most isolated communities and backgrounds to more diverse relatable role model mentors; giving them access to people, professions and aspirations many of them wouldn’t otherwise have.
In total, this year saw a total of 1,097 people receive an honour, demonstrating the breadth of service given by people from all backgrounds from all across the UK, and further amplify the roles of diverse and relatable role models to many across the country
In a statement, David Stewart, Chairman of Hermes Investment Management, said:
I would like to congratulate Saker on what is a terrific achievement and due recognition for the energy and enthusiasm with which he has led the argument for a sustainable investment approach that few subscribed to until very recently. The fact that many of these views are now in the mainstream is testament to this.

Senior Head of Mosaic and Community Integration at The Trust, Nizam Uddin said:
“We could not be more thrilled at Saker’s just recognition in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List. He embodies so much of what Mosaic stands for, particularly his simultaneous quest for excellence and doing good across all segments of business and society. He is an exceptional and relatable role model for so many, and we hope many others will follow in Saker’s brilliant footsteps in years to come”.
