Manchester City is excited to announce the launch of a brand new pilot programme, designed to develop the talent of young players across Greater Manchester and Mosaic schools in the North West have been offered 20 places.
The CITC Soccer School will not only teach participants key skills on every aspect of their technical, tactical, physical and mental game, but also instil the fundamental values that permeate throughout City, such as passion, pride, professionalism, perseverance and team spirit.
Based on the same methods used by the Academy to teach and train players, some of which have included England Internationals Shaun-Wright Philips and Micah Richards, the intensive four day master classes will put players through their paces by UEFA qualified Manchester City coaches.
Warm up reaction games, small sided matches, fun tournaments and technique training including passing, dribbling, shooting, attacking, defending and all aspects of goalkeeping are only a few of the many key skills which will be taught. Sessions will be geared around enhancing confidence and laying the foundations to enable players to express themselves and reach their full potential.
Those taking part will have the opportunity to learn how to play like their favourite players, as they are taught the same techniques which have made those players some of the biggest names in football.
Blues Boss, Roberto Mancini, said: “The CITC Soccer Schools are a fantastic chance for young players to learn the City way. They will be taught tactics and skills which are important if they want to be a top footballer.”
During the course of a Community Soccer School, participants will be given the opportunity to experience the City of Manchester Stadium tour. There will also be some special prizes given out throughout the week.
The soccer school will take place on:
Date: Monday 1st June – Friday 4th June 2010
Time: 9.30am – 3.30pm every day
Venue: Manchester City Academy, Platt Lane, Yew Tree Road, Fallowfield, Manchester, M14 7UU
