Mosaic’s chairman Shabir Randeree CBE was recently inaugurated as chancellor of The University of East London (UEL) in a special ceremony attended by, amongst many others, Mayor of London and Mosaic ambassador Sadiq Khan.
Over 100 guests attended the event including Baroness Warsi, Lord Kamlesh Patel OBE, Simon Woolley of Operation Black Vote and a host of Mosaic Board members. There were speeches from UEL Vice-Chancellor Professor John Joughin and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Nora Colton. The Formal Conferring of Authority to the new Chancellor was made by Mark Stephens CBE.
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan delivered the guest speech and made reference to Shabir’s work with Mosaic. He said: “I want to offer my sincere congratulations to Shabir on his appointment and I wish him the very best in his new role.”
Jonathan Freeman, Managing Director of Mosaic, said: “Shabir has worked tirelessly for philanthropic causes throughout his career and his chairmanship of Mosaic has been characterised by integrity, kindness and a passionate advocacy of our work with young people in some of the country’s most deprived areas. I know he will bring a similar energy to his new role at UEL.”
