EY is one of the world’s largest professional services firms and works with clients across the globe to provide quality assurance, tax, consultancy and advisory services, EY works with like-minded people in the belief that when businesses work better, the world works better too.
As part of its purpose to build a better working world, EY is dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship. With a shared vision to inspire through business, the company has established a strong relationship with Mosaic.
Dozens of EY employees volunteer as mentors with Mosaic’s Primary and Secondary School programmes, EY also hosts numerous ‘World of Work’ visits. EY’s Yorkshire office has hosted visits every year since 2015, during which students from disadvantaged communities visit EY to meet its employees, gain support with soft skills and boost their understandings of future career paths.
Executive Director at EY London, Zishan Nurmohamed, sits on the Board of Mosaic London and has been pivotal in building the relationship.
He said: “I consider it a real honour to sit on the Board for Mosaic in London. I actively encourage my fellow colleagues to volunteer as a mentor, or lend a hand at our World of Work days. At EY we believe it’s really important to encourage the next generation to think about life skills and raise awareness of the opportunities available to them when leaving school”
EY also supports Mosaic through the annual Enterprise Challenge competition, which is focused on encouraging entrepreneurship in the many schoolchildren Mosaic seeks to support. During the 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 Enterprise Challenge competitions, EY hosted the London regional finals at its Canary Wharf office, as well as supplying goody bags for the finalists and providing a special award to the winners during EY’s flagship Entrepreneur of the Year event. EY also hosted Mosaic’s Mentor of the Year Event in 2015/2016.
Zishan added: “Having come from a disadvantaged background myself, I see it as a personal obligation to help others from similar roots, our core value-set at EY allows me to do this. We are committed to celebrating the achievements of entrepreneurs and fast growth businesses and recognise they form in diverse communities and in some cases, at a very young age. We’re always looking to support Mosaic and look forward to continuing to support them in the future.”
