HRH The Prince of Wales, founder of Mosaic welcomed delegates to the International Summit, the first to take place outside the UK which took place in Doha, Qatar from 15-24 November.
The Summit included presentations by keynote speakers, including Her Excellency Sheikha Mayassa, Royal Patron, Julie Lyle, Chief Marketing Officer of the Summit’s Global Partner Prudential Corporation Asia, as well as representatives of sponsors within Qatar including Sultan Al Abdullah of Qatar Petroleum and Andy Brown of Qatar Shell.
Eighty delegates aged 25 – 35 attended the Summit from sixteen countries to develop leadership skills, learn about global issues, and be inspired to become involved in their local communities. They have now returned home to plan how they will put into action all that they have learned, Mosaic will support them in the coming year to realise their plans.
Her Excellency Sheikha Mayassa gave a warm and inspirational speech about leadership. “Responsible leadership is no longer an option but a necessity. Enabling individuals to lead through delegation and management all requires synthesis when working together to achieve a common goal. I hope all the Mosaic workshops and programmes were useful, and that you are leaving here with new ideas, more motivated to inspire the young and influence the old”.
Key sponsors and delegates shared their thoughts on leadership and their views on the Summit:
Andy Brown, Executive Vice President of Qatar Shell – emphasized the value of the Mosaic International Summit and highlighted the role of pioneering leadership, demonstrated by Shell’s recent inauguration of the Pearl GTL.
Zul (Nurzulfikar) Ali, a delegate from Malaysia spoke about his life and reported that the Summit has allowed him “to interact with great leaders who have achieved so much, it has truly inspired me to keep striving for the best”.
Dr. Bothina Al Mulla, a graduate of Cornell Medical School, Qatar Foundation, described how she has found the Summit to be “a great learning experience and a brilliant opportunity to build on skills, which I can now put into practise”.
Jonathan Freeman, Director of Mosaic, said “We were thrilled to bring the Summit to Qatar for our first Summit outside of the UK. The generosity of our hosts and the inspiration of Qatar’s vision for the future made this our most successful Summit to date.The young leaders attending our Summit leave Doha with confidence, inspiration and a determination to make a positive difference to each of their communities.”
