Mosaic’s Managing Director, Jonathan Freeman has been appointed as a Senior Adviser to The Careers & Enterprise Company, the government-backed organisation that exists to join the dots in careers and enterprise provision across England.
In his role, Jonathan will advise the Company on its mentoring strategy following the announcement last month of a £12m investment fund created to scale mentoring programmes to help young people in greatest need across England by creating encounters with employers that improve confidence, behaviour, engagement and attainment.
According to research published by the Company, young people in areas across England are at risk of disengagement from education. Mentoring is critically important in helping young people recognise what they are good at, what is valued in the world of work and what is inspiring about the future.
Jonathan Freeman said: “In my role as Managing Director of Mosaic, I’ve seen first-hand the impact of mentoring on the confidence and outlook of young people. Through its work, The Careers & Enterprise Company can achieve an equality of both opportunity and aspiration for pupils across England. It’s an exciting time to be working with the team and I’m looking forward to helping the Company continue its work.”
Claudia Harris, CEO of The Careers & Enterprise Company, commented: “Successful mentoring creates positive human connections that empower and motivate both the mentor and mentee. Young people with mentors, especially those who are at risk of disengagement, have more positive visions of themselves and their futures, and achieve more positive outcomes in school, work, and life. Jonathan’s considerable expertise and experience in this area will be invaluable in helping us deliver an exceptional campaign that will ensure more young people can realise their potential.”
