On Monday 8 March, students from four Mosaic schools in Yorkshire and London participated in the Commonwealth Day Observance at Westminster Abbey, in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen.
A number of these students took centre stage in the celebrations, in a packed Westminster Abbey, acting as flag-bearers of a number of countries in the Commonwealth. Mosaic students represented Pakistan, Bangladesh, Fiji and a range of other countries.
Star of the show was Aneesah Shahpal from Belle Vue Girls School in Bradford who was chosen to represent the United Kingdom. In addition to the Queen, the service was attended by Mosaic’s founder HRH The Prince of Wales.
The four schools involved were Belle View Girls from Bradford, and Swanlea School, Crest Girls Academy and Brondesbury Academy from London.
