Mosaic is honoured to announce today that British NGO Human Appeal has become its latest Platinum Patron and partner.
In a significant show of support for Mosaic’s mentoring programmes in schools and prisons in some of the most deprived areas in the UK and abroad, Human Appeal has committed £100k to help Mosaic make a sustainable difference to the futures of thousands of young people.
Partnerships such as this one are intrinsic to the success of Mosaic, and Human Appeal’s long-term support will mean that the charity can commit to delivering an ever-widening portfolio of projects to more schools and prisons both domestically and internationally.
Human Appeal is an international NGO operating in areas of need around the world, giving people help to escape the horrors of poverty, conflict and natural disasters. The organisation currently has a presence in 25 countries on three continents and works to provide help in times of crisis, as well as delivering sustainable development programmes.
Othman Moqbel, CEO of Human Appeal, commented: “Human Appeal celebrates our twenty fifth anniversary this year. We are marking this significant milestone by giving something back to the UK; this partnership with Mosaic is part of our commitment to increasing our work with disadvantaged people in this country. Our work with Mosaic will enable us to improve the life chances of young people; we will also be launching new programmes to help victims of domestic violence and homeless people.”
Jonathan Freeman, Managing Director of Mosaic, said: “We are very grateful to Human Appeal for this incredible commitment of support. I’ve long admired the amazing work the organisation carries out around the world and this endorsement of the beliefs and projects of Mosaic is not only very welcome but will allow us to continue expanding our work both in the UK and internationally.”
Mosaic and Human Appeal will collaborate today (Tuesday 15th March 2016) at a special event in Parliament to mark the fifth anniversary of the Syria conflict. The event will bring together UN agencies, NGOs working in Syria and MPs, all of whom will demand that the government honours its pledge to help Syrians displaced by the current conflict – both inside and outside the country.
Speakers at the event include:
- Baroness Warsi (Host)
- Dr Rouba Mhaissen – Sawa for Development & Aid
- Othman Moqbel – CEO, Human Appeal
- Greg Barrow – World Food Programme
- Dr Hany El Banna – Chairman, Muslim Charities Forum
- Simon O’Connell – Mercy Corps
- Diane Abbott MP
- Andrew Mitchell MP
Othman Moqbel, CEO of Human Appeal, added: “We are hugely disappointed to be marking five years since the start of the Syrian conflict. In that time, we have seen the conflict go from bad to worse for Syrians. We are calling on the international community to do all it can to establish humanitarian corridors and safe routes for people escape conflict.”
Human Appeal joins Apax Foundation, Nectar Trust, Al Faisal Foundation, Heathrow Community Fund, Shell, People’s Postcode Lottery and UK Aid as a Platinum Patron of Mosaic.
