Mosaic is delighted to announce the appointment of Ruby McGregor-Smith CBE, Chief Executive of Mitie Group plc, as a Mosaic Ambassador.
Ruby McGregor-Smith joined Mitie, a British outsourcing and energy services company, in 2002 and became CEO in 2007.
She is one of a small number of women holding the position of Chief Executive in the FTSE 250 or FTSE 100 and is the first Asian woman to be appointed in such a role within that group of companies. She has overseen a £1.5 billion growth in revenue.
Ruby qualified as an accountant at BDO Stoy Hayward in 1991 before taking financial roles for Serco, SGI Babcock International and Mitie.
“Ruby epitomises what it means to be an inspirational role model, and we are delighted to welcome her to the Mosaic family.”
Ruby has a number of other roles and charitable and community interests. She has been an Independent Non-Executive Director of PageGroup since May 2007 and is the Chairman of the Audit Committee and a member of the Nomination and Remuneration Committees.
She is a Non-Executive Director of the UK Government Department for Culture Media & Sport, and Business Ambassador for the United Kingdom at UK Trade & Investment. She is also the Chair of the Public Services Strategy Board and Member of the Presidents Committee at CBI, and a Member of the Board of Trustee Directors at Business in the Community.
Ruby is an ambassador of ‘Raising the Roof’, a Great Ormond Street Hospital charity, and she also chairs the UK Women’s Business Council, a working group that seeks to maximise women’s contribution to economic growth.
She was awarded a CBE in 2012 for her services to business and diversity in business; and was listed in BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour top Power List of the 100 most powerful women in the UK, who have the greatest impact on British politics, society, culture and the economy.
Ruby has been a long-term supporter of Mosaic and has been involved most recently in helping further develop Mosaic’s ex-offender mentoring programme.
Welcoming this exciting appointment, Mosaic’s National Director Jonathan Freeman said:
“We are thrilled that Ruby has agreed to become a Mosaic Ambassador. Not only is Ruby a brilliant business leader, but as exemplified through her extensive charitable work, Ruby cares deeply about social impact. Through her accomplishments and the many barriers broken, Ruby epitomises what it means to be an inspirational role model, and we are delighted to welcome her to the Mosaic family.”
