60 girls from four primary schools across the South East celebrated their achievements at a joint Primary Schools Graduations Ceremony held at the Royal Holloway University in London marking their completion of the Mosaic’s Primary School Programme.
“Mosaic is a great initiative, encouraging aspirations and confidence at an early age.”
The girls were from Barnsbury, Sythwood, Montem and New Monument, along with their parents, teachers and school governors came together with their mentors to share their experiences on the programme and receive special certificates from Mosaic.
Each of the schools that took part in the nine week long programme took it in turns to talk about the programme and what it had meant for their girls and their mothers and how it had helped them to build up confidence and raise their aspirations.
The group also heard from Rupa Patel, one of the mentors on the programme and who works for as Corporate Counsel for Hewlett Packard as she talked about her experience of working with some of the girls and their mothers. Rupa said:
“I have learned so much as a first time mentor with Mosaic; it has been a pleasure to work with the girls and their mothers and the value of the programme has been clear each week as the discussions progressed! Working from the Mosaic materials, the sessions have been thought provoking and rewarding and the graduation event was excellent – a great celebration of the commitment shown by everyone throughout.”
Fellow mentor Kate Irvine added:
“Mosaic is a great initiative, encouraging aspirations and confidence at an early age. The graduation event was a lovely way to bring the sessions to a close and the girls seemed to thoroughly enjoy it.”
Mosaic would like to thank the Royal Holloway University for hosting the event and to the mentors, teachers and representatives from each of the schools for supporting the programme.
