What an amazing day! After all the months of training, the day of the ride had finally arrived – and what an incredible day we had!
So how did that happen? The Prudential London-Surrey100 bike ride was a long-term goal, something away in the distance to aim for.
With less than a month to go until the big ride, the last two weeks’ training rides have been focused on hill climbs – and dealing with some serious heat!
The last couple of weeks have been full on, both at work and at home. As a result, my training regime has been rather lacking in rigour, with just the one ride home from work (25 miles) one evening in the last fortnight.
The Ride100 organisers have now published the detailed route for the ride in August – and they’ve not pulled any punches!
Isles of Scilly (Photo credit: Wikipedia) I was determined that the family Half Term holiday to the Isles of Scilly wasn’t going to disrupt my training regime too much, but I hadn’t quite expected to get quite so competitive during my short break from work… The Isles of Scilly are a magical archipelago some 28 miles off the Cornish Coast.

I was always going to have to get to Wiltshire this weekend to visit my mother on her birthday. But the cycling option was in doubt up to the last minute, as the prospect of an 85-mile ride this early in my training was daunting.
