Do you know how hard it is to work when you can smell samosas, pakoras and see a great big chocolate cake just crying out your name??
Today was all about pathways for the girls, looking at what they’ve already done in their lives, and the skills and experiences they’ve had along the way. It was great to see the relationships that have built up in just a few short weeks between the mentors and mentees. We know each other’s names and are getting more familiar with the ‘personalities’ in the room, and there definitely are some: both amongst the girls and their mums which is great to see.
Ilyas Ahmed is 18 years old and has just completed a week’s work experience at McLaren, arranged by Mosaic. Over the course of his placement, Ilyas described in words his feelings, experiences and hopes for the future. These will appear as posts on the Mosaic Blog over the coming weeks.
Gutted 🙁 I had to miss today’s session due to having a staff member off sick and as I run my own business, I had to be in to cover. I did feel really guilty for letting down the girls, mums and my colleagues as I could only let them know on the day. It’s hard not to feel bad when you are part of a team where it’s very much about people wanting to be there and give their best.
