Do you know how hard it is to work when you can smell samosas, pakoras and see a great big chocolate cake just crying out your name??
How many times do you get to throw stuff at people and NOT get in trouble for it at school?? Never, unless it’s part of a Mosaic session at Arden School :).
Today was all about pathways for the girls, looking at what they’ve already done in their lives, and the skills and experiences they’ve had along the way. It was great to see the relationships that have built up in just a few short weeks between the mentors and mentees. We know each other’s names and are getting more familiar with the ‘personalities’ in the room, and there definitely are some: both amongst the girls and their mums which is great to see.
This week was our first joint session with the mums and girls and it was lovely to have a crowded room full of eager mums, excited daughters and fabulous mentors and school staff. There was a great atmosphere in the room with a really comfortable and easy atmosphere that made it feel as if we’d all known each other for months instead of a couple of weeks.
Ooooh how exciting! Our first ‘proper and official’ session today where we had to be in ‘full’ mentor mode. Mrs Rana and Ms Gill from Arden School had been as efficient as ever and prepared the room, the refreshments and the resources for a great session. As mentors, we were all keen to get started and made sure we all sat on different tables so that we were shared out between the girls and mums.
