12 January 2017 was a very important day for me and a very special group of young girls who had just completed a 10-week-long Mosaic Primary School Mentoring Programme.
I got involved with the Mosaic mentoring programme earlier this year after a period of reflection and a period of redefining my future.
We get settled in the room and my stomach sinks; I am the youngest person here!
So the application has been put in, I have been selected, sent the information pack and invited for a training day! Great news right? WRONG!
This journal is a collection of my experiences as a Mosaic Mentor to 10 amazing girls at Ark Franklin Primary School from April 2015 to July 2015.
This session was based on “doing my best” which at first seemed like an obvious prospect, but how do you explain the definition of “doing your best” without simply saying “do your best”?
How do you begin to share what it means to be a force for positive change, to a group of 9 and 10 year old girls?
As a primary school pupil, many many years ago, my dreams of becoming a journalist, were just that, dreams.
Monday 14 July was the last session of mentoring with Webster School, Jackie Murray, Sarah Logan and myself.
