Naheed is a long-time advocate for equality, diversity and social inclusion across all sectors of society and industry and has been very fortunate to have forged a successful career doing something which she is truly passionate about and where she can make a real difference to others.
Having qualified as a solicitor practicing in Human & Civil rights cases, she worked with clients from a wide spectrum of backgrounds. This experience provided her with the opportunity to combine her passion for business with her dedication to advocating the rights of others.
In 1999 she co-founded Contracts IT, setting out to turn the traditional image of what a recruitment firm is all about and position it as the ‘go to’ resourcing partner for organisations seeking to develop their inclusive recruitment practices. She specialises in one of the most in-demand yet male-dominated sectors – IT.
Contracts IT is a boutique Agency offering a holistic approach to technology workforce solutions. Naheed has used the skills she learned as a practicing lawyer to advocate the importance of diversity and inclusion in the company and her clients. She believes that the creation of inclusive and representative supply chains is and will play a vital role in the twenty- first century; aid economic growth and provide that level playing field that so many aspire to but many find difficult to reach.
A keen supporter of gender diversity and in empowering women she recognises and helps young women progressing up the career ladder; she is aware of the benefits that women can bring to the workforce and the importance of women being represented at every level in every organisation. This belief is at the heart of the way in which she recruits and mentors young women. Her own organisation makeup is over 60% women.
Although the success and accomplishments that Contracts IT offer act as motivation and inspiration, her passion for influencing and inspiring goes further than just that of corporate success and started as a young lawyer providing pro-bono legal assistance to a women`s refuge in Southall, assisting women sheltering from abuse and violence.
She is actively involved in mentoring programmes with the charity Mosaic, a member of the steering committee for Mosaic Associates Female Entrepreneurs Network, and also mentors young entrepreneurs for the Mara foundation in Africa.
Aside from work her interests include looking after her two children, skiing, cycling and outdoor activities. She is an art lover, enjoys current affairs and international literature.
