Young boys and girls from four West Yorkshire primary schools celebrated their improved confidence skills and successful completion of the Mosaic Primary School mentoring programme with a prestigious graduation ceremony, held at Leeds Trinity University in Leeds.
40 pupils, aged between 7 and 11, were welcomed to the venue to celebrate their completion of the mentoring programme.
The four schools that attended the event included three from Bradford – Lapage Primary School & Nursery, Fagley Primary School and Frizinghall Primary School and Gledhow Primary school in Leeds.
Mosaic would like to thank Criterion Capital, The Qatar Foundation and the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery for their generous support of the primary school mentoring programme.
Pupils who took part in the programme spoke at the event about the positive experience in front of influential business leaders, mentors, teachers and parents. Sarah Khan-Bashir MBE, one of the founding members of Mosaic who also attended the ceremony. Tamarind Wilson-Flint, Founder of PR agency Lucre UK and inspirational speaker was a keynote speaker at the event.
Humira Asif – mother of Muzeeba Asif (9) from Lapage Primary School who participated in the programme, said: “The programme was excellent and inspiring. My favourite part was the children being confident at the end of it. I really, really enjoyed it and found myself laughing a lot, which was great. I think me and my daughter have a better relationship as a result of the programme, not that it was bad before, it’s just even better now.”
The graduation event saw:
- 14 boys and girls from Fagley Primary School in Bradford
- 10 pupils from Frizinghall Primary School in Bradford
- 8 pupils from Gledhow Primary school in Leeds
- 14 pupils from Lapage Primary School & Nursery
